Abstract

Community empowerment is a process that aims to make communities more capable and independent in managing the resources and potential they have so that they can overcome socio-economic problems and achieve prosperity. In the context of the village, community empowerment is very important to create economic opportunities, reduce poverty, and strengthen social resilience. One strategy that has been successful in improving local welfare and economy is to utilize natural potential to empower rural communities. Tuloa Village has a lot of natural potential, especially in coconut production, but this potential has not been fully utilized to improve the local economy. This study aims to explore the potential of coconut in Tolua Village and create a community empowerment model by transforming coconut into a profitable UMKM (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) product. Using qualitative methodology, this study involved the village community in identifying problems, planning, and implementing the program. The results showed that coconut in Tolua Village has a lot of potential for processed products, such as coconut oil, coconut flour, copra, and derivative products, which can be transformed into profitable UMKM products. Village communities can process coconut into products that have economic value and increase household income with assistance in marketing, skills training, and introduction of appropriate technology.
